5-Day Journaling Exercise: Just Getting Started

Theme: Just start where you are, and from within.

Day 1: What’s Holding You Back?

  • What’s one thing you’ve been avoiding starting—big or small?

  • What stories, fears, or expectations are attached to it?

  • What would it feel like to just begin imperfectly?

Day 2: Pattern Recognition

Think about a time you noticed yourself repeating an unhelpful pattern.

  • What was the pattern?

  • What emotions or beliefs were underneath it?

  • Did you fight through or pause to explore it?

Day 3: Fear of Failure vs. Perfectionism

  • Do you identify more with fear of failure or perfectionism—or both?

  • How have these shaped the way you take action (or avoid it)?

  • What do you say to yourself when you're about to start something important? What would you say to a friend in the same position?

Day 4: Digging Your Own Well

  • What’s something in your life that hasn’t come easily—but was worth the work?

  • What was the process like?

  • What did it teach you about your resilience?

Day 5: The First Step

  • What’s one action—tiny or bold—you can take today to “just get started”?

  • How can you support yourself to follow through?

  • How will it feel to move forward, even if imperfectly find out?
