5-Day Journaling Exercise: Why does it feel like no one understands me?
Theme: If you speak and understand your own language, how can you communicate to be better understood and understand others?
Day 1:
When was the last time you felt misunderstood?
What did you say or do, and how do you think the other person interpreted it differently from what you intended?
Day 2:
When do you feel most clearly understood?
Who was involved, and what helped make that possible?
Day 3:
Think about someone close to you. How does their way of speaking, reacting, or expressing emotion differ from yours?
What have you learned from their “language”?
What have you struggled with, and why?
Day 4:
Describe a time when a broad response like “I’m fine” or “I’m tired” didn’t really capture what you were experiencing.
Rewrite that moment with more depth and detail. How does it impact how you truly feel, and were received by others?
Day 5:
What patterns in your communication might be blocking deeper understanding with others?
How could you open your “language” to have your perception, but see their perspective, and allow for more clarity and connection?
